What is laminated glass, where is it used & what are the benefits?

• Laminated glass is two pieces of float glass with a plastic interlayer.The use of laminated glass has increased
  substantially over the last 5 to 10 years due to increased awareness of its benefits.
• Benefits of laminated glass include UV resistance, increased security & acoustic improvements. Coloured plastic
  interlayers can be utilised to create a permanent-coloured glass effect.
• Laminated glass can be utilised in any building to reduce high noise or increase security, with the added benefit of UV
  protection.All of these can be combined into one type of interlayer.

How is laminated glass produced?

• The completely assembled two pieces of jumbo float glass with plastic interlayer are placed into an autoclave which
  applies heat & extreme high pressure of approximately 10-12 bar for several hours. The jumbo laminated sheet is then cooled
  & removed pending inspection.

How is jumbo laminated glass currently inspected for quality?

• Normal manual procedures for quality inspection involve a visual check.  This may involve multiple jumbo laminated
  sheets being placed together for a combined inspection.
